The Archbishop’s Palace

The Archbishop’s Palace

8200 VESZPRÉM, Vár utca 16.

The Archbishop’s Palace in Veszprém is one of the most defining Baroque spaces in the Castle District, where architecture does not merely surround the visitor but subtly guides them. The palace was built in the second half of the 18th century on the commission of Bishop Ignác Koller, based on the designs of Jakab Fellner. Construction began in 1765 and was completed by 1776. The result is a consciously composed, representative sequence of spaces in which every door, axis, and decorative element serves a single purpose: to convey where decisions are made.
