Korossy Quartet

The Korossy Quartet began its artistic collaboration in 2018. In the following year of its formation, the ensemble won the Leó Weiner National Chamber Music Competition, organized by the Liszt Academy of Music.
Each member of the quartet has individually received numerous professional awards, including several Junior Prima Prizes and other major competition successes.
In 2021, the ensemble was awarded five special prizes at the Bartók World Competition. In 2022, they were admitted to the class of Günter Pichler, former primarius of the legendary Alban Berg Quartet, at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid. In 2023, the quartet launched its own two-year concert series at the Budapest Music Center, presenting one of the cornerstones of the string quartet repertoire: all of Béla Bartók’s string quartets. In parallel, they also initiated a quartet–quintet series at the Liszt Academy with pianist Magyar Valentin, culminating in the release of a joint album in 2025 under the Hungaroton label.
Over recent years, the quartet has worked closely with numerous distinguished musicians and mentors, including Gábor Takács-Nagy, András Keller, Attila Falvay, Günter Pichler, Eberhard Feltz, Barnabás Kelemen, Katalin Kokas, Johannes Meissl, Márta Gulyás, Péter Kováts, and György Pauk.
The Korossy Quartet has appeared at major international festivals such as the Heidelberger Frühling Festival, Lockenhaus Chamber Music Festival, KAMARA.hu, Arcus Temporum, the Frankfurt Fratopia Festival, Bartók Spring, Festival Academy Budapest, and the Auer Festival.
The ensemble’s artistic mission is to carry forward the renowned Hungarian string quartet tradition while exploring a broad and diverse repertoire on both national and international concert stages.
