Sergey Sadovoy

Friday, 7 August 2026

Saint Stephen Hall, County Hall, Veszprém,
8:00 pm

Programme:

A freely curated programme of works by J. S. Bach, including excerpts from the Toccata and Fugue in D minor and selections from The Well-Tempered Clavier, alongside pieces by Domenico Scarlatti and other Baroque composers, as well as virtuoso original compositions for accordion.

Russian accordionist Sergey Sadovoy is an internationally acclaimed musician born into a musical family, who encountered the accordion at an early age. His exceptional talent was recognised early, leading him to pursue formal studies at the Gnessin State Musical College in Moscow, where he trained under distinguished professors and mastered the instrument’s demanding technical and artistic requirements.

A defining feature of his career is his deep commitment to classical music. His repertoire includes works by composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Domenico Scarlatti, and Sergei Rachmaninoff, which he transcribes and performs on the accordion. His performances are characterised by extraordinary virtuosity, refined musical sensitivity, and profound interpretative insight, through which the accordion has gained new recognition on the classical concert stage.

Sadovoy performs regularly in prestigious concert halls across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, appearing both as a soloist and as a chamber musician. A central aim of his artistic work is to expand the accordion repertoire and demonstrate the instrument’s versatility. Through his concerts and recordings, he introduces new audiences to its expressive possibilities while contributing to its growing status within the international classical music world.

In his artistry, tradition and innovation are closely intertwined: building on his classical training, he continually seeks new directions for the instrument, demonstrating that the accordion is fully capable of standing as a solo instrument on the most demanding concert stages. In recent years, he has become one of the most distinctive and influential representatives of the instrument, earning wide recognition from both audiences and critics.

The programme and artists are subject to change.
