„A brilliant way to bring classical music to a broader audience. Klazz Brothers have created a genre of their own.”

(Neue Westfälische)

Klazz Brothers & Cuba Percussion bring classical masterpieces to life with Caribbean rhythms. Their performances are infused with a special energy that moves the soul, sparks the imagination, and gets feet dancing. The unique soundscape of the ensemble was born from the encounter of the German Klazz Brothers trio (piano, double bass, drums) and three virtuoso Cuban percussionists.

Their name reflects this fusion: “Klazz” symbolizes the creative blend of classical music and jazz. In their hands, Mozart becomes salsa, Beethoven transforms into mambo, and Bach turns into Latin jazz — all with a naturalness that makes it feel like the music was always meant to sound this way.

The group has gained international acclaim with albums such as Classic Meets Cuba, Mozart Meets Cuba, and Jazz Meets Cuba, where works by classical masters are reimagined with Afro-Cuban, salsa, and jazz rhythms, casting familiar melodies in a new light. Classic Meets Cuba became not only a hit with audiences but also received several prestigious awards.

Klazz Brothers & Cuba Percussion offer more than just a musical fusion — they deliver an exciting, dynamic concert experience. Their performances are marked by technical precision, creative artistry, and pure joy in music-making. With vibrant stage presence, humour, and passion, the musicians captivate audiences wherever they perform.

Their symphonic programme is a true celebration of musical diversity, proving that in music, there are no boundaries.

Maria Markesini - A natural phenomenon

Maria Markesini's career began as a gifted classical pianist but took an unexpected turn when because of a serious elbow injury her ability to play the piano was impaired. Not wanting to cancel a concert in Rotterdam she spontaneously sang a Greek folk song. The audience was taken and from that time on she has been filling the great concert halls like the legendary Concertgebouw Amsterdams with different programs in which she sings and accompanies herself on the piano. When listening to her silvery fresh voice one wants to sink on his knees to thank the (Greek) Gods for it!

‘Bold, free-spirited, passionate, intense, joyful, lucid. Emotions interwoven within my music. Classical music flows in my veins, an integral part of my being. However, I’ve always admired the audacity and liberty displayed by jazz musicians on stage.’
