Alexis Cárdenas & Recoveco

2024. AUGUST 3, SATURDAY

VESZPRÉM, HANGVILLA, MAIN HALL 8:00 PM

‘LATIN BAROQUE’

Featuring:

MENDELSSOHN CHAMBER ORCHESTRA

Artistic Director: PÉTER KOVÁTS

World-class violinist Alexis Cardenás promises genuine Latin American music at the Auer Festival! Born in Venezuela in 1976, this violin virtuoso arrives in Veszprém with his favourite ensemble, the Recoveco Quartet. Regularly performing alongside Richard Galliano, Didier Lockwood, and Hamilton de Holanda, he has graced the most prestigious concert halls and festivals worldwide. As a soloist, he has performed with renowned orchestras such as the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Moscow Philharmonic, I Musici di Montreal, and the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra.

Cardenas, a multifaceted violinist and prizewinner of numerous international competitions – including the Tibor Varga International Violin Competition, Long Thibaud International Competition, and the Montreal Paganini Competition – has worked with famous conductors like Marek Janowski, Pavel Kogan, and Gustavo Dudamel. Currently, he is the concertmaster of the Orchestre National d'Île-de-France.

Visiting us for the first time, this violin phenomenon will create a real fiesta atmosphere, blending it with baroque music. A special feature of the concert is that for a few pieces, the host Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra will join them on stage to partner with Cardenas and Recoveco in performing Aldemaro Romero's works and excerpts from Astor Piazzolla's world-famous composition, The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires.

Programme subject to change.
