The building of the new County Hall (which used to serve as salt storage) fits into the slowly shifting city centre movement process which is unique to Veszprém. An open competition was launched for the best plans on 30th May 1884, and 14 plans were eventually submitted. In 1885. September a tender was advertised for the construction work, won by Napoleon Kéler. The construction works started in November, the ground floor was being built by the next Summer and in October the roof was already on the building. The County Hall was officially opened on 24th November 1887.
